Unknown Exposures is a blog of found photography.

For years I’ve been troubled by the sight of lost photographs, in junk and charity shops, on sale in markets, or listed on eBay. Sometimes I break down and buy some.

These photos were taken by somebody once. They cared about them, looked after them and then were separated from them. Perhaps they died and their relatives didn’t care. Perhaps the images were lost somehow. Whatever happened, I don’t want these precious moments in time to be lost.

So, I’m scanning and publishing these photos here, both to help preserve them for posterity — and, perhaps, if I’m lucky, to reconnect them with someone who cares about them.
